AT&T Byron Nelson: PGA Odds, Pick, Predictions, Dark Horses - 5/19/16

AT&T Byron Nelson: Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm (Four Seasons Resort) See the Latest Odds

We head back to Texas this week for the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship, an event that began in 1944. Even with all the history, only four golfers have won this event more than once. Also, this is one of the weaker fields we’ve seen in awhile, so it’s wide open in terms of trying to make some money.

So, let’s take a stab at it again this week.

AT&T Byron Nelson: PGA Odds, Pick, Predictions, Dark Horses - 5/19/16

Here are some players to consider putting on your card for the 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson Championship.

Dustin Johnson - In a weak field, you have to take one of the favorites to increase your chances of winning, so play Dustin Johnson with odds of +655. Johnson has made the cut in all six of his appearances at the Byron Nelson and has finished in the top-10 four times. Johnson has also finished in the top-10 in three of his last four events, and he’s fourth in driving distance, third in birdie average and ninth in scoring average. Johnson is a good bet this week for a chance to make 6.5 times your money.

Jimmy Walker - Jimmy Walker heads into this week in poor form after missing the cut in his last two events. However, Walker has still made the cut in 10 of 13 events overall and is 24th in driving distance and 14th in eagles holes per. Let’s not act like Walker wasn’t playing consistent golf before he ran into a few hiccups the past couple of weeks. Also, Walker finished runner-up last year at the Byron Nelson. I’ll take a shot with Nelson and odds of +4000.

Ryan Palmer - With such a weak field, Ryan Palmer has a solid chance to win his first event since 2010. Palmer has made the cut five straight times at the Byron Nelson and was a runner-up back in 2011. The guy from Amarillo, Texas loves this course and heads into this week in good form. Palmer finished fourth at the Texas Open and a solid 23rd last week in the Players Championship. Palmer is a strong dark horse this week with odds of +4000.

Zach Johnson - Zach Johnson got off to a very fast start last week at the Players Championship before dropping the ball and finishing 54th. Johnson hasn’t had a great finish since the WGC Match Play, but he’s still made the cut in 10 of 13 events and is 28th in birdie average. Also, Johnson did finish fifth last year at the Byron Nelson. Johnson is a solid play this week with odds of +2500.

Graham DeLaet - Another golfer who has had a rough couple of weeks but has been consistent overall is Graham DeLaet. Despite stinking it up at the Wells Fargo and the Players Championship, DeLaet has made the cut in 11 of his 15 events and has finished 27th or better in four of his last six events. DeLaet is also 33rd in driving distance, 21st in ball striking and 19th in greens in regulation percentage. DeLaet continues to fly under the radar despite being in the thick of the pack most weeks. I’ll take a stab with DeLaet and odds of +5500.
