Valspar Championship: PGA Golf Odds, Pick, Predictions, Dark Horses - 3/8/18

The 2018 Valspar Championship

Valspar Championship: Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm (Innisbrook Resort) See the Latest Odds

We make our second trip to Florida for the 2018 Valspar Championship, one of the newer events on tour that debuted in 2000 and has produced some memorable finishes over the years. Only two golfers have won this event more than once and each of the last 11 years have produced a finish of two or less strokes. This years event is quite loaded when you consider Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods will make their debut at the Copperhead Course.

Here are five golfers to consider throwing on your card this week.

Valspar Championship: PGA Golf Odds, Pick, Predictions, Dark Horses - 3/8/18

Henrik Stenson - We haven’t seen Henrik Stenson since the Hero World Challenge, but he did produce top-10 finishes in the Abu Dhabi and Omega Dubai Desert Classic. This is also a good event to get back in the swing of things at the PGA level considering Stenson has finished 11th or better in each of his last three appearances at Palm Harbor. Stenson finished seventh last year and fourth in 2015. With some of the bigger names either making their debut here or having limited history on this course, past success could be key. Give me Stenson and odds of +1800.

Adam Hadwin - Despite this event not even being 20 years old, there have already been two multiple winners, which has to give Adam Hadwin hope, after he won this event last year with a -14 to par. It was the best performance on this course since 2011 from Gary Woodland. Hadwin also heads into this event in great form, finishing in the top-10 in the Genesis Open and World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship. His performance last year and his current form makes Hadwin an intriguing play with +3500 odds.

Kevin Streelman - Kevin Streelman has been a bit of a hit or miss in his last several events, but he does have five top-25 finishes in his last 10 performances and hasn’t missed a cut since the Northern Trust many months ago. Streelman is also 21st in driving accuracy percentage and first in greens in regulation percentage. The real reason to consider Streelman this week is his experience at the Copperhead Course, as he won this event back in 2013 and had a top-20 finish last year. Streelman has played this course each of the last six years. Give me Streelman and the +6000 odds.

Kevin Na - Kevin Na got off to a slow start to the season, but he’s found his form recently, finishing in the top-25 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and finishing runner-up at the Genesis Open. Na is also 12th in eagles (holes per) and seventh in sand save percentage. As for this event, Na finished runner-up in 2014, 10th in 2015 and had a top-25 finish in 2016. Na hasn’t won a PGA event in over seven years, but there’s enough here to consider him this week with +4500 odds.

Louis Oosthuizen - Louis Oosthuizen has only played two PGA events this year, but he made the cut both times and finished 30th or better, including a -2 to par in last weeks World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship. Oosthuizen has been rather consistent in his PGA performances dating back to last season, despite always finding a way to come up short in terms of a victory. Oosthuizen has missed the cut in three of his last five appearances at the Innisbrook Resort, but the two times he didn’t, he finished 20th and seventh. Assuming Oosthuizen can make it to the last day, he’ll be in the thick of things. I’ll take the South African and +5500 odds.
