It was a fun Masters as usual, but frustrating as well considering two of our five picks finished runner-up and third place. Just a stroke or two away from a big payout. Well, this week we make our only stop in South Carolina for the 2018 RBC Heritage. There’s sure to be some hangover from last week, so this is a tournament where you can take a shot on some of the bigger long shots and have a decent chance at cashing out.
Here are five golfers to consider throwing on your card this week.
USA TODAY Sports
Matt Kuchar - Matt Kuchar had a decent showing at the Masters, finishing just outside the top-30, and he now has top-30 performances in eight of his last 11 events. Kuchar has been rather consistent this season and hasn’t missed a cut in over a year at the Shell Houston Open. Kuchar has also finished 11th or better in each of his last four appearances at the RBC Heritage, which includes a win in 2014. Give me Kuchar and the +2000 odds.
Patrick Cantlay - Patrick Cantlay didn’t make the cut last week, but it was his first missed cut in quite some time, and he still has top-20 finishes in two of his last four events. Cantlay has quietly been playing good golf the last couple of months, and he’s a respectable 27th in driving distance and 38th in birdie average. Last year, Cantlay finished third at the RBC Heritage. This is a good spot for Cantlay to get his second PGA victory, so give me +3500 odds.
Kevin Kisner - Kevin Kisner followed his runner-up finish in match play with a 28th place finish at the Masters. Kisner has missed the cut in 50 percent of his last six events, but he’s been in the thick of things when he sees the last day, and he’s currently 11th in driving accuracy percentage. This should be another good week for Kisner considering he’s made the cut four straight years at the RBC Heritage, which includes a runner-up finish in 2015 and an 11th place finish last year. Kisner and odds of +4000 is a solid play.
Kevin Na - Kevin Na has had some time off after a few rough patches, but the time away could give him an advantage against these guys who have a lot of emotional golf under their belt. Besides a runner-up finish at the Genesis Open, Na hasn’t done anything spectacular, but he does have three top-10 finishes in his last five appearances at the RBC Heritage. The consistency at the Harbour Town Golf Links makes Na a valuable play this week with +4000 odds.
Charley Hoffman - Charley Hoffman had a hole in one in the Masters and his 12th place finish gives him top-20 finishes in three of his last five events overall. Hoffman hasn’t been able to have an over the top performance yet this season, but you combine his current form overall with the fact he’s finished 14th or better in three of his last six appearances at the RBC Heritage, and you have yourself a sleeper this week. Hoffman and odds of +5000 is a play worth looking at this week.
