Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Here are five golfers to consider throwing on your card this week.

Justin Rose - Justin Rose may be the favorite this week, but you can still get him at +700 odds, making him a must play this weekend. Rose is the hottest player on tour entering this week with six straight top-10 finishes, which includes a recent win in the Turkish Airlines Open. While he’s never won this event, putting together a golf card without Rose in his current form indicates you have zero idea what you’re doing, especially with a short field. This is a good chance to make seven times your money.

Tiger Woods - Tiger Woods got some of the rust off last week with 22 holes at Shadow Creek and the frustrating loss should have put a fire in his belly. Tiger missed a ton of makable shots, including a short putt that would have put nine million dollars in his bank account. A motivated Tiger is capable of winning anywhere, and he did have a top-10 showing here last year when he made his return from his back injury. Tiger is much more healthy and in better form now. He’s worth a look at +900 odds.

Tony Finau - Tony Finau is off to a really strong start to the season, as he’s a combined 38 strokes under par in his last three events and is eighth in driving distance as well as fifth in scoring average. Finau has been eager to participate in this event and has the type of game that Albany well. If you’re looking for a dark horse who has a real shot to make a run at a victory, Finau is a strong candidate at +1500 odds.

Rickie Fowler - If you’re going to play Rose at +700 odds, you might as well include Rickie Fowler at +760 odds. Fowler is not only the defending champion at the Hero World Challenge, but he finished third the last two years before that. Fowler seems to enjoy this event a little more than others, and he was solid in his showings at both the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and Mayakoba Golf Classic. It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Fowler become the first back-to-back winner at this event since Tiger in 2006-07.

Justin Thomas - Justin Thomas has been a bit of a hit or miss in his last few showings, but he should have plenty of motivation this week after finishing 11th here last year. That was after saying he hoped to kick Tiger’s ass. There’s history of players performing much better their second time at this event, so there’s reason to think this will be a bounce back showing for the 25-year-old. I like Thomas and the +860 odds.
