This week, the PGA Tour travels to La Jolla, California for the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open.

The Farmers Insurance Open has always been one of my favorite tournaments on the PGA Tour schedule. Why? Well, this tournament has traditionally been the first event of the season that seems to always have the best golfers in the world in the field. Does this outstanding field of talent make it more difficult for the golf bettor to win cash this week? Probably. However, that’s the challenge of golf betting that I absolutely love! I think we can find some quality golf bets for this event. Let’s get to it!

The 2021 Farmers Insurance Open will be played at Torrey Pines. Torrey Pines has two golf courses, the North course and the South course. The entire field of players will play both courses in the first two rounds of the tournament on Thursday and Friday. Upon completion of the second round of play on Friday afternoon, a cut will occur. The remaining 65 players and ties will play the third and fourth rounds on the South course over the weekend.

It is important to note that the South course is without a doubt the most difficult of the two courses. The Torrey Pines South course is a par 72 that measures a whopping 7,765 yards. By the way, the South course is the longest course that will be played on the PGA Tour schedule this year. What does that mean to the golf bettor this week? It means driving distance is a highly important statistic for you to focus on as you evaluate golfers for potential wagers this week.

Now that we have covered the golf courses the field will play and some relevant key facts regarding this week’s event, let’s shift our focus to what I love doing the most.

Here are my favorite bets for the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open.

Here are two golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 20 this week.

Tony Finau +110 – The American presents the golf bettor with the perfect combination of event form and current form. Let’s first take a look at Finau’s event history. Tony Finau has played the Farmers Insurance Open every year since 2017. In those four events played, Finau has three top six finishes, including a fourth place result at the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open. Now let’s turn our attention to his current form. Finau has four top 24 finishes in his last six events played on the PGA Tour, including an eighth place result at the Mayakoba Golf Classic last month.

Gary Woodland +300 – The 2019 U.S. Open champion certainly passed my eye test at last week’s American Express. Woodland fired a third round 68 at last week’s American Express en route to an eventual 16th place finish. The American has also played very well at the Farmers Insurance Open in the past. Let’s take a look at the relevant data. Woodland has played the Farmers Insurance Open every year since 2016. In those five events played, Woodland has an impressive four top 20 finishes, including a ninth place result at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open.
