2021 Travelers Championship
June 24, 2021 6:45 am EDT
This week, the PGA Tour travels to Connecticut for the 2021 Travelers Championship.
Before I discuss my favorite golf bets for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s take a look at the golf course the field will play and some additional facts that I feel are relevant to those that will be placing bets on the 2021 Travelers Championship.
The Travelers Championship will be played at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The golf course is a par 70 that measures 6,841 yards. This course is a tree lined track that features only a few water hazards. In 2016, a PGA Tour renovation of this golf course directed the removal of over 50 bunkers. This track will present the field with two par five holes. In my opinion, the eventual winner of this week’s event will be a strong ball striker that also is an exceptional putter.
The Travelers Championship made it’s debut on the PGA Tour in 1984.

TPC River Highlands has hosted the Travelers Championship every year that it has been played on the PGA Tour.
The average cumulative four round winning score of the three previous winners of the Travelers Championship was 17.67 strokes under par (2020 Dustin Johnson -19: 2019 Chez Reavie -17: Bubba Watson -17).
Now let’s turn our attention to my favorite bets for the 2021 Travelers Championship.
Here are two golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top ten.
Doc Redman +650
The 23 year old American has two top nine finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the Palmetto Championship @ Congaree two weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Travelers Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Doc Redman ranks fifth in GIR (greens in regulation), 14th in strokes gained ball striking, 11th in bogey avoidance, and ninth in strokes gained on par fours.
It should also be noted that Redman finished 11th at the 2020 Travelers Championship.
Bubba Watson +550
Watson certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event history. Watson has played the Travelers Championship eight times since 2012. In those eight tournaments just mentioned, Watson has five top 25 finishes including two wins in 2015 and 2018.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Travelers Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Bubba Watson ranks second in strokes gained tee to green and fourth in strokes gained approach.
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 20.
Kyle Stanley +400
The 33 year old has played the Travelers Championship three times since 2018. In those three events just noted, Stanley has two top 24 finishes, including a 15th place result in 2018.
Stanley also checks the box for me when it comes to current form. Stanley has two top 26 finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an eighth place result at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
