2021 Open Championship
July 15, 2021 1:35 am EDT
This week, the PGA Tour presents the golf betting community with the 2021 Open Championship.
Before I discuss my favorite golf bets for this week’s major championship let’s take a look at the golf course the field will play and some key trends that I feel are relevant to those that will be placing wagers on the 2021 Open Championship.
The 2021 Open Championship will be played at Royal St. George’s Golf Club in Kent, England. This golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,204 yards. This track will present this week’s field with wide fairways and fast undulating greens. Royal St. George’s is a classical links golf course that is open to the elements. Wind is without a doubt this golf course’s biggest defense. Having stated that, I recommend that all bettors look for players that play well in high winds as they evaluate which golfers to place a wager on this week.
13 of the last 14 winners of the Open Championship had a top ten finish at a previous Open Championship.
11 of the last 11 winners of the Open Championship had at least one previous top five finish that season.

10 of the last 11 winners of the Open Championship had at least four previous appearances at the Open Championship.
Seven of the last 10 winners of the Open Championship were 32 years of age or older.
Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite golf bets for the final major championship of the year!
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top five.
Brooks Koepka +450
For my money, there is no better golfer in the world to bet on in major championship than Brooks Koepka. His record at major championships throughout his career has been impeccable. Let me provide you the relevant data to shine on a light on just how good this man has been at major championships.
Since the beginning of 2016, Brooks Koepka has played 19 major championships on the PGA Tour. In those 19 major championships just mentioned, Koepka has an impressive 15 top 13 finishes. Of those top 13 finishes just noted, 12 were top seven finishes, including four major championship wins!
Koepka also arrives at this week’s Open Championship in good form. Koepka has two consecutive top five finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the 2021 U.S. Open in June.
Here are two golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 20.
Ian Poulter +250
Poulter has two top four finishes in his last five tournaments played (PGA and European Tours combined), including an impressive fourth place result at last week’s Scottish Open.
Lucas Herbert +350
The talented Australian arrives at this week’s Open Championship on the heels of four consecutive top 19 finishes (PGA and European Tours combined), including a win at the 2021 Irish Open last month.
