2021 Women’s Scottish Open: Predictions, Odds 8/12/21

2021 Women's Scottish Open
August 12, 2021 1:30 am EDT

This week, the LPGA Tour travels to Scotland for the 2021 Women’s Scottish Open.

Before I discuss my favorite golf bets for this week’s LPGA Tour event let’s take a look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most important to success at this week’s 2021 Women’s Scottish Open.

The 2021 Women’s Scottish Open will be played at the Dumbarnie Links in Fife, Scotland. This golf course is a par 71 that measures 6,453 yards. The Women’s Scottish Open debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2017. It should also be noted that this event has been played the week prior to the Women’s Open Championship since it’s inception in 2017.

The key player statistics that I will be focusing on this week are driving accuracy, GIR (greens in regulation), and putts per GIR.

Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite golf bets for the 2021 Women’s Scottish Open!

Here are three golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top ten.

Leona Maguire +250

The 26 year old arrives at this week’s 2021 Women’s Scottish Open on the heels of five consecutive top 15 finishes on the LPGA Tour, including a sixth place result at the 2021 Amundi Evian Championship three weeks ago.

Maguire is currently ranked fourth in putts per GIR (1.74), sixth in scoring average (69.86), and 23rd in GIR (greens in regulation-74.55%)

Maguire finished 18th at the 2020 Women’s Scottish Open. In my opinion, Maguire is a much better golfer now than she was in 2020. Having stated that, I fully expect Leona Maguire to crack the top ten of this year’s event.

Madelene Sagstrom +700

The 28 year old has two top 20 finishes in her last four tournaments played on the LPGA Tour. Let me provide you the specifics regarding the two top 20 finishes I just mentioned to better shed light on Madelene Sagstrom’s strong recent play on the LPGA Tour. Sagstrom posted a 15th place finish at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June. Madelene also finished 20th at the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open in May.

I also like the fact that Sagstrom has played well at the Women’s Scottish Open previously. Sagstrom finished 17th at the 2019 Women’s Scottish Open.

I should also note that Sagstrom finished 20th at the Tokyo Olympics Women’s Golf Tournament last week.

Chella Choi +600

The 30 year old has accumulated three top 22 finishes in her last three tournaments played on the LPGA Tour, including a fifth place result at the 2021 ISPS Handa World Invitational two weeks ago.

Chella Choi is currently ranked fifth in driving accuracy (83.33%), 19th in putts per GIR (1.77) and 19th in GIR (greens in regulation-74.81%) on the LPGA Tour.
