2021 BMW Championship
August 26, 2021 9:40 am EDT
This week, the PGA Tour travels to Maryland for the 2021 BMW Championship.
Before I discuss my favorite golf bets for this week’s FedEx Cup playoff event let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a player’s success this week.
The 2021 BMW Championship will be played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland. This course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,542 yards. This track will present this week’s field with tight tree lined fairways and rather small greens. This course also has four par five holes. Water is in play on five of the 18 holes. It should be noted that the Caves Valley Golf Club will be hosting the BMW Championship for the first time this week. Keep that in mind as you review player results from the previous BMW Championship events that have been played.
The statistics I am focusing on this week are driving accuracy, GIR (greens in regulation), driving distance, bogey avoidance, and strokes gained putting.
Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite golf bets for the 2021 BMW Championship.

Here are two players to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 20.
Hudson Swafford +1100
When I review the player odds for each week’s golf tournament, the first thing I do is I look for value. Having stated that, in my opinion, Swafford presents outstanding golf betting value at odds of +1100 to top 20. You maybe asking yourself why I see value in Swafford’s odds to top 20. Well, let me explain.
Swafford played exceptionally well in last week’s first FedEx Cup playoff event, the 2021 Northern Trust. Swafford fired a second round 65 and a third round 66 en route to an eventual 11th place finish at the Northern Trust.
Due to the fact that Swafford played so well at the 2021 Northern Trust, I decided to dive into the player statistics for the four day tournament to determine how Swafford fared relative to the field. After four rounds of competitive play at the 2021 Northern Trust, in relation to the field, Swafford ranked first in GIR (greens in regulation-83.3%) and second in driving accuracy (91.1%).
Swafford is certainly not a slam dunk to top 20 this week. However, the potential for him to do so is there based on his recent play. At odds of +1100, I will happily place that wager every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Cameron Champ +350
The 26 year old American arrives at this week’s FedEx Cup playoff event in rather good form. More specifically, Champ has accumulated two top 11 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive win at the 2021 3M Open.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 BMW Championship field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Cameron Champ ranks 12th in strokes gained off the tee and second in driving distance. It should be noted that Champ’s ability to hit the ball long off the tee will be extremely beneficial to him this week. At 7,542 yards, Caves Valley Golf Club will definitely favor the golfer that hits it long. Champ certainly does that.
