2021 Gran Canaria Lopesan Open: European Tour Golf Picks, Odds, Predictions 4/21/21

This week, the European Tour presents the golf betting community with the 2021 Gran Canaria Lopesan Open.

Before I dive into my favorite golf bets for the Gran Canaria Lopesan Open let’s take a brief look at the golf course the field will play this week.

The 2021 Gran Canaria Lopesan Open will be played at Meloneras Golf Course in Las Palmas, Spain. This coastal course is a par 70 that measures 6,503yds. This short resort style golf course’s only defense is the wind. This track has never hosted a tournament on the European Tour. I very much doubt that this course will host many events on this Tour in the future. It appears the tournament was placed on this year’s schedule to replace the French Open which was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

I expect that the professional golfers that are in this week’s Canaria Lopesan Open field will post some very low rounds over the course of this four day event. Why? Well, as I mentioned earlier, this is a resort style course that was designed for amateurs to play, not professionals.

Now that we have discussed the golf course, let’s shift our attention to my favorite golf bets for the 2021 Gran Canaria Lopesan Open.

Here are two golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top five.

Sam Horsfield +500 – The Englishman arrives at this week’s European Tour event on the heels of three consecutive top 15 finishes, including a third place result at the Kenya Savannah Classic last month. Horsfield currently ranks first in putts per GIR (1.61) and second in stroke average (68.08) on the European Tour.

Kurt Kitayama +700 – The 28 year old American has certainly made his presence felt on the European Tour over the last few years. Kitayama became the fastest player to two wins in European Tour history when he won the Oman Open in only his 11th career appearance in 2019. More recently, Kitayama has an impressive four top 15 finishes in his last five events played on the European Tour, including a second place result at the Magical Kenya Open last month.
