This week, the PGA Tour presents golf fans with the 2022 PGA Championship.

Before I dive into my favorite golf bets for the 2022 PGA Championship let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I feel are the most vital to a golfer’s success this week.

The 2022 PGA Championship will be played at Southern Hills Country Club (Champions Course) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This track is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,365 yards. Perry Maxwell designed this golf course in 1936. It should be noted that the Champions Course has previously hosted seven major championships, including the 2001 U.S. Open and 2007 PGA Championship. Additionally, the Champions Course at Southern Hills Country Club hosted the 2021 Senior PGA Championship.

The current weather forecast for Tulsa indicates that high winds could be a factor during the four round tournament. Keep that in mind as you select golfers to place bets on this week.

The key player statistics that I will be focusing on this week are proximity to the hole from 125-150 yards, GIR (greens in regulation), driving distance, and strokes gained ball striking.

Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite bets for the 2022 PGA Championship.

Here are two golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top five.

Jordan Spieth +450

Full disclosure, I backed Jordan Spieth to top five in last week’s 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson. Spieth rewarded me with a second place result. Having stated that, I love Jordan Spieth’s chances to post a top five result again at this week’s PGA Championship.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 PGA Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Jordan Spieth ranks first in strokes gained tee to green, first in strokes gained ball striking, first in strokes gained approach, and second in birdie or better percentage.

Scottie Scheffler +330

The current number one golfer in OWGR (Official World Golf Rankings) arrives at this week’s 2022 PGA Championship playing simply outstanding golf. Let me be more specific. Since the beginning of February, Scottie Scheffler has played six tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those six events just noted, Scheffler has accumulated an impressive three wins, including the 2022 Masters at Augusta National.
