After a two week absence, the PGA Tour returns to the golf schedule with the 2022 Fortinet Championship.
Before I discuss my favorite golf bet for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a player’s success this week.
The Fortinet Championship will be played at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California. This golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,123 yards. This track is a classical golf course with tight tree-lined fairways. It should be noted that this tournament has been held at the Silverado Resort and Spa every year since 2014.
To assist me with determining my favorite golf bets for this event, I reviewed the statistics of the last three winners of the Fortinet Championship (previously Safeway Open). Having stated that, the key player statistics that I will be focusing on this week are strokes gained tee to green, strokes gained off the tee, strokes gained approach, GIR (greens in regulation), driving accuracy, and scrambling.
Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite golf bets for this week’s Fortinet Championship!
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 20.
Andrew Putnam +275
Andrew Putnam arrives at the PGA Tour’s season opening event in rather good form. Let me be more specific. Putnam has accumulated four consecutive top 27 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an impressive 11th place result at the 2022 3M Open in July.
In relation to this week’s current listed Fortinet Championship field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Andrew Putnam ranks fifth in strokes gained around the green, sixth in strokes gained putting, and 12th in driving accuracy.
It should also be noted that Andrew Putnam finished 30th at the 2021 Fortinet Championship. In my opinion, Putnam is a much better golfer than he was a year ago. Having stated that, I fully expect Andrew Putnam to crack the top 20 at this year’s event.
