Farmers Insurance Open: Tournament Matchup Bets, Odds 1/25/23

Farmers Insurance Open
January 25, 2023 10:30 am EDT

This week, the PGA Tour travels to Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open.

Before I discuss my favorite tournament matchup bet for the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in this week’s field.

Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average

  1. Jon Rahm 68.88
  2. Maverick McNealy 69.11
  3. Xander Schauffele 69.26
  4. Tony Finau 69.28
  5. Jason Day 69.61

Now that we have determined who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite tournament matchup bet for this week’s 2023 Farmers Insurance Open.

Ryan Palmer -110 over Hayden Buckley

Two weeks ago, Ryal Palmer fired a final round 65 at the Sony Open en route to an eventual 31st place result.

If you are looking for a golfer that fits the narrative of a “course horse” look no further as I have found your man. That man’s name is Ryan Palmer. Let me be more specific. Since 2018, Ryan Palmer has played this week’s PGA Tour event five times. In those five events just mentioned, Palmer has accumulated four top 16 finishes, including a second place result at the 2021 Farmers insurance Open.

In direct contrast to Palmer, Hayden Buckley has NOT posted quality results at the Farmers Insurance Open. Buckley missed the cut in his only two career appearances at the Farmers Insurance Open.

In summary, I am backing Ryan Palmer to defeat Hayden Buckley in this tournament matchup bet.
