2023 Honda Classic

This week the PGA Tour travels to Florida for the 2023 Honda Classic.
Before I discuss my favorite golf bet for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most important to a player’s success at this week’s 2023 Honda Classic.
The 2023 Honda Classic will be played on the Champions Course at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This golf course received a re-design from golf legend Jack Nicklaus in 1990. The Champions Course is a par 70 that measures 7,125 yards. The course is known for the brutal “Bear Trap” that awaits players on holes 15-17.
The key player statistics that I am focusing on this week are GIR (greens in regulation), proximity to the hole from over 200 yards, strokes gained ball striking, and strokes gained around the green.

Lee Hodges -250
The 27 year old American fired a second round 66 at last week’s 2023 Genesis Invitational en route to an eventual 18th place finish.
Due to the fact that Lee Hodges played so well at the 2023 Genesis Invitational, I decided to take a hard look at Hodges statistics relative to the field.
After four rounds of competitive play at the 2023 Genesis Invitational, relative to the field, Lee Hodges ranked fifth in scrambling (82.8%), 19th in strokes gained putting (3.208), and first in total birdies made (10).
It should also be noted that Lee Hodges finished ninth at the 2022 Honda Classic.
