This week, the PGA Tour presents the Bermuda Championship.
Before I dive into my favorite golf bet for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a player’s success at this week’s Bermuda Championship.
The Bermuda Championship will be played at the Port Royal Golf Course. This golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 6,828 yards. The Port Royal track is set on the beautiful coastline of the Atlantic Ocean in Bermuda. This will be the third time that this golf tournament has been played on the PGA Tour. It should also be noted that this course was designed by Trent Jones.
The key player statistics I will be focusing on this week are driving accuracy, strokes gained off the tee, GIR (greens in regulation), and birdie or better percentage.
Now let's shift our focus to my favorite golf bet for the Bermuda Championship!
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 40.
David Hearn +225
Yes I know, on the surface this bet does not look very appealing. Regardless, this wager could be profitable for the cerebral golf bettor. Let me elaborate.
Canadian David Hearn certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Hearn has played this week's PGA Tour event three times since 2019. In those three tournaments just noted, Hearn has accumulated three top 39 finishes, including two eighth place results in 2020 and 2021. I should also note that he arrived at the events just noted in awful form. However, Hearn still managed to play well.
I did observe that David Hearn shot a 66 in his last round played at the Utah Championship. I am going to take my chances on Hearn and accept the inherit risk associated with that decision. Why? I see clear value in the number (+225).
