Andrew Johnston -105 over Laurie Canter
Andrew Johnston arrives at this week's 2021 Portugal Masters on the heels of two consecutive top 15 finishes on the European Tour, including a seventh place result at the 2021 Mallorca Golf Open two weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Portugal Masters field, in the last five weeks of competitive golf played on the European Tour, Andrew Johnston ranks ranks 11th in GIR (greens in regulation-70.8%) and seventh in scrambling (67.8%).
Johnston finished 34th at the 2018 Portugal Masters, his only appearance at the event. Having stated that, I think that Andrew Johnston is a far better golfer now than he was three years ago. In summary, I am backing Andrew Johnston to defeat Laurie Canter in this tournament matchup.
Jorge Campillo -115 over Adrian Otaegui
Jorge Campillo has accumulated two top 17 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the European Tour, including an impressive second place result at the 2021 Mallorca Golf Open.
Campillo certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/player history. Let me be more specific. Jorge Campillo has played the Portugal Masters three times since 2017. In those three tournaments just mentioned, Campillo has accumulated two top 29 finishes, including an eighth place result at the 2020 Portugal Masters.
