Breeders Cup 2014 Preview: Juvenile Fillies Turf Pick, Odds, Preview
Major European players include Prize Exhibit, Osalia, and Qualify, the last mentioned of which particularly catches my eye after scoring handily in her latest try when getting some needed class relief. She’s shown some tactical speed and may not mind the extra ground for Aidan O’Brien, who usually comes to these Championships well-intentioned.
Of the American contingent, Isabella Sings comes in off a second in the Natalma for Todd Pletcher and looks plenty ready to take a step forward in her second try going long. There is also a Chad Brown trio to be reckoned with. Lady Eli, Partisan Politics, and Tammy the Torpedo each deserve a look if they all show up in the gate, with Lady Eli quite possibly boasting the best last out performance of the entire field.
Graham Motion enters Rainha Da Bateria amidst a very impressive year for his barn and Sunset Glow is not to be overlooked for trainer Wesley Ward who is a wizard on the weeds with babies. She is being highly touted and sounds to be heading in the direction of post time favorite.
Conquest Harlanate, Flying Tipat, Lady Zuzu, Nicky’s Brown Miss, Quality Rocks, She’s Complete, Unbridled Sonya, War Alert, and Sivoliere round out the rest of the pre-entries.
Early thoughts: I see this as a much more wide open race than the early chatter suggests. It appears that Sunset Glow is making quite the impression on people, and if that momentum continues I’ll be happy to play against her at a short price. She has already shown talent and there is enough to like about this one, but there are plenty of other runners in this field that will make her earn every inch. It might be wise to make room for 6 or 7 of these gals on your pick-4 ticket if you plan on playing it Friday.
