The Chicago Cubs host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Sunday afternoon action at Wrigley Field.
I thought the Dodgers had a good chance of losing Saturday, but this team is just on one of those streaks where virtually every thing is going right. The good times kept rolling in a 3-0 victory at Wrigley Field on Saturday behind great pitching and a few clutch hits, which gave the National League West Leaders victories in nine of eleven. Chris Capuano allowed six hits and walked one over 6.1 scoreless innings to get the win, with four relievers finishing the job. The offense managed ten hits and walked six times, with Carl Crawford leading the way with a three hit day and a two run single. Zack Greinke toes the rubber against the Cubs in the final game of their series on Sunday. Greinke has been a key figure in the Dodgers resurgence, going 5-2 with three no decisions over his last ten outings.

The Cubs have proven to be a better team than the ones they've fielded over the years, but there still is room for improvement in order to become a factor in the National League Central. In a nutshell, that means more pitching and scoring to challenge the big boys in the division. Starter Jeff Samardzija kept his team in the game against the red hot Dodgers, but his offense couldn't support his performance. Samardzija gave up all three runs on seven hits and five bases on balls, while striking out nine over six innings. The bats mustered eight hits and walked twice, but were unable to string the hits together. A struggling Carlos Villanueva takes the mound against the surging Dodgers on Sunday. Villanueva has gone 0-3 with a no decision over his last four outings with one quality start in this span.
I think going against the Dodgers right now is akin to stepping in front of a truck. They can't win them all and Chicago is capable so this is a question of betting against whether their streak continues...
