Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins Free Pick - 8/6/13

The Minnesota Twins look to thitem a Monkey Wrench in to the postseason hopes of the Kansas City Royals.
If you look at Minnesota’s record at this point, it’s obvious the bad times have been more plentiful than the good. The Twins appeared to have momentum in their corner following a three game sweep of Houston but momentum was no where to be found in a 13-0 loss at Kansas City on Monday. The Twins have struggled to get both the arms and bats on the same page and that was obviously an issue in the series opener. Kevin Correia didn’t last long on the mound with six runs plated in just two frames, while Ryan Pressly couldn’t stop the bleeding with seven runs given up in 1.1 innings. The bats were a non factor on four hits and a walk and need to regroup for Tuesday. Rookie left hander Andrew Albers make his major league debut when he squares off with Kansas City Tuesday. Albers made 22 starts for AAA Rochester, going 11-5 with a 2.86 ERA, while striking out 116 in 132+ innings.
For those of us expecting Kansas City to fade away, the wait continues after Monday’s one sided victory over visiting Minnesota. The Royals remained in the American League Central chase with their 11th win in 12 contests to stay in the shadows of Cleveland and Detroit. We have not seen this type of performance coming from KC in an awfully long time so people naturally have very little faith in this team. The Royals were simply rolling Monday with starter Jeremy Guthrie tossing a complete game, four hit shut out. The bats pounded out 16 hits and walked four times, with Eric Hosmer going deep and driving in five, while three others knocked in two runs apiece. James Shields toes the rubber in game number two of their series with Minnesota. Shields has posted three stright quality starts with five runs given up over 20 innings in which he has gone 2-1.
Kansas City can’t keep up this hot streak can they? They will lose sooner or later and hopefully it’s later…
