The Boston Red Sox hope to get a wake-up call Tuesday after being embarrassed 2-0 at the Houston Astros Monday.
Houston has had many games where leads were given up, but Brett Oberholtzer (2-0, 2.53 ERA) and the bullpen did not oblige. Boston finished with just five hits. The Sox were a lousy 0-of-7 with Runners In Scoring Position. Stephen Drew, Mike Napoli and Brandon Snyder were each 0-of-2 while the Astros were 2-of-10 scoring on Rex Grossman's RBI-single. Brett Barmes had a sacrifice later to losing ace John Lackey (7-9, 3.21 ERA).

Jordan Lyles (4-5, 4.91 ERA) throws next for Houston hoping to snap a four-game losing streak as well as a seven-game Astros skid when he starts. Lyles had dropped his last two decisions at Minute Maid Park as well as allowed 14 runs, 13 earned, during eight innings to the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners.
Lyles also fell to the Texas Rangers surrendering eight runs during four frames. In Houston Lyles beat the Kansas City Royals, LA and Milwaukee Brewers giving up five runs during 18 innings. Boston is 5-of-15 without an RBI versus Lyles.
The Red Sox combat with Steven Wright (2-0, 3.65 ERA) who toppled Seattle both times 8-7. Wright did not yield a run during 5.2 and three frames at the M's and Boston in the victories. Wright conceded five runs during 3.2 relief innings to the Oakland Athletics at Fenway Park April 23 in a 13-0 Sox defeat. Although the Astros dominated the opener 2-0 I am not about to risk Wright and Houston against an angry Boston bunch.
