An American League West battle between the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels continues Tuesday in Anaheim after Texas’ 5-2 victory.
LA struck first during the bottom of the first via Mark Trumbo’s double. The Rangers however went ahead four frames later and added two more runs during the fifth off of Jerome Williams’ (5-8, 4.77 ERA) wild pitch, Elvis Andrus’ RBI-triple, Adrian Beltre’s home run and Jurickson Profar’s RBI-single. Collin Cowgill’s fielder’s choice during the seventh brought the Angels within three which was the final difference on the scoreboard.
Yu Darvish (10-5, 2.66 ERA) unloads next for Texas who is 3-5 in his voyages. Of course Darvish has just lost twice, one an adequate six-inning one-run start at the Cleveland Indians July 27. Darvish also was defeated at the Seattle Mariners April 12 allowing three runs during six frames.
At the Houston Astros twice and Los Angeles Darvish conceded three runs during 21.2 innings to get three road triumphs. The Angels also were beaten 7-3 at Rangers Ballpark April 7 with Darvish letting in three runs during five frames. LA is 24-of-121 with 10 RBIs, four of them Mike Trout’s and three a piece from Albert Pujols and Trumbo, versus Darvish.
