The Minnesota Twins look to cool down the white hot Kansas City Royals in AL Central action.
Minnesota is going to win the American League Central but they have the makings of a good spoiler and proved it with Tuesday's 7-0 victory over the red hot and playoff hopeful Royals. The Twins haven't been playing badly with wins in four of five and this was a nice rebound from a 13-0 rout to these same Royals. Rookie Andrew Albers was spectacular in his major league debut with a four hit shut out over 8.1 innings for the win. The offense didn't waste the effort with Justin Morneau, Brian Dozier and Chris Colabello each clubbing long balls. Minnesota hands the ball to Samuel Deduno on Wednesday to see if he can slow the Royals offense. Deduno has been rock solid the las four times out, allowing five runs in 27 innings while going 3-0 with a no decision.

Kansas City has really been racking up the wins at a pace I haven't seen from this team in a very long time. The Royals have lost just twice in 12 games following Tuesday's defeat which has kept them in the American League Central race. The key for this team now is to get right back in the win column because Detroit is refusing to lose and that means losing ground. Starter James Shields suffered through one of his poorest performances of 2013 with all seven runs given up on eight hits and a pair of bases on balls through six frames pitched. That was game over with the KC attack producing four singles and two walks. Wade Davis gets Wednesday's start against Minnesota, hoping to right the ship in an up and down season. Davis received a no decision in a 4-2 loss to the Mets in which he gave up two runs on eight hits over five innings of work.
I happen to like Deduno who might be a rising star, but he is going against one of the hottest teams in baseball. When the line is released I'll make a pick but I'm leaning on the visitors...
