The Miami Marlins look to slow the postseason drive of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
I trully believe that if Miami had some consistent scoring, this could be a team around the .500 mark. The Fish have struggled at the plate and that has cost them numerous times in 2013 and once again on Tuesday in a 4-3 defeat at PNC Park. The Marlins handed Henderson Alverez a 3-0 lead, but he couldn't hold it with three runs given up on six hits in seven frames. Miami hit the ball well with eleven hits and three BB, but squandered several scoring opportunities. Three players drove in runs and three scored, while seven players hit safely. The Marlins send out Tom Koehler to face the Pirates, hoping he can come close to duplicating his 3-0 victory over the visiting Mets. Koehler allowed five hits and issued five walks in six innings pitched.

Pittsburgh didn't have an easy time of it with visiting Miami, although a win is a win, especially with the Buccos in the middle of the National League Central race. The Pirates have made things interesting at times in 2013, but they have won eight of eleven and that's the bottom line. Lefty Jeff Locke was not at the top of his game with three runs plated on nine hits and a trio of bases on balls through 5.2 innings pitched. The Pittsburgh attack consisted of eight hits and a pair of free passes, with Andrew McCutchen smacking a two run double, while Josh Harrison clubbed a walk off bomb in the 9th. Sinker baller Charlie Morton will be looking to get in the groove against the Marlins Wednesday. Morton was on the receiving end of a 13-0 rout to St Louis, with five runs plated on ten hits in six frames.
I think the Pirates have an edge on the mound, but Charlie Morton doesn't excite me at all. I'll back the better team and hope this isn't another nail biter...
