The San Francisco Giants and the Baltimore Orioles close out their interleague series on Sunday in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Giants bounced back from Friday’s loss to Baltimore by beating the orioles on Saturday. Brandon Belt had two hits and Marco Scutaro, Hunter Pence, and Andres Torres had hits as the Giants scored three runs on six hits in all. Starting pitcher Chad Gaudin allowed two hits and a run while striking out six over 5.0 innings to get a no decision as Guillermo Moscoso got the win to go 1-0 on the year and Sergio Romo earned his 28th save. For Sunday’s game the Giants start matt Cain who has won two of his last three decisions. For the season Cain has allowed 115 hits and 69 earned runs while striking out 127 over 139 innings for a 7-7 record and a 4.47 ERA.
The Baltimore Orioles couldn’t take advantage of their opportunities on Saturday as they lost to the Giants. Chris Davis hit his 42nd home run, Nick Markakis had three hits, and Adam Jones had a hit as the Orioles scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen allowed five hits and three earned runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-5 o the year. For Sunday’s game the Orioles start Bud Norris who makes his third start since bing acquired in a trade. In his tow starts with Baltimore Norris allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out 13 over 12 innings for a 6-9 record and a 3.93 ERA.
San Francisco is 27-10 in their last 37 interleague home games, 9-20 in their last 29 home games, and 2-6 in Cain’s last eight starts. Baltimore is 8-4 in their last 12 road games, 5-3 in their last eight games, and 3-7 in their last 10 games as an underdog.
