The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins face off on Sunday in Chicago as they close out their weekend series.
The Chicago White Sox were swept by the Twins in a double header on Friday but they bounced back with a win over the Twins on Saturday. Paul Konerko had two hits, Jordan Danks hit a home run, and Alexei Ramirez and Adam Dunn had hits as the White Sox scored five runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Andre Rienzo allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out five over 5.1 innings to not factor in the decision as David Purcey got the win and Addison Reed earned his 28th save. For Sunday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who is coming off of a win in his last start. For the season Quintana has allowed 131 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 110 over 138.1 innings for a 6-3 record and a 3.51 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins looked to have Saturday’s game in Chicago in hand but they couldn’t hold on and they lost to the White Sox. Oswaldo Arcia had two hits including a home run, Justin Morneau had a home run, and Joe Mauer had a hit as the Twins scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey allowed four hits and five runs while walking five and striking out two over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-10 on the season. For Sunday’s game the Twins start Kevin Correia who has been hit extremely hard in two of his last three starts. For the season Correaia has allowed 156 hits and 68 earned runs while striking out 70 over 126.1 innings for a 7-8 record and a 4.84 ERA.
Chicago is 6-12 in their last 18 games as a home favorite, 8-22 against a team with a losing record, and 0-4 in Quintana’s last four home starts against a team with a losing record. Minnesota is 5-1 in their last six games against left-handed starters, 6-3 in their last nine games overall, and 0-5 in Correia’s last five road starts. Minnesota is 5-1 in the last six meetings of these two.
