Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Indians Free Pick - 8/13/13

The Cleveland Indians will be at Target Field to face the Minnesota Twins in AL Central action.
Two short weeks ago, Cleveland was hot and giving Detroit a run for their money in the American League Central. That was than and this is now as the Indians have been in fade mode with losses in eight of eleven after Monday’s 3-0 loss to the Twins. The Tribe have got to get going again with Detroit threatening to pull away and Kansas City not all that far behind. Starter Danny Salazar didn’t have his best stuff with all three runs plated on three hits and a trio of BB in just four frames. The offense had nothing going on with a mere two singles. Zach McAllister toes the rubber against Minnesota hoping to bounce back from a 10-3 defeat at the hands of Detroit. McAllister allowed six runs (five earned) on four hits and four walks over 2.1 frames.
I have said Minnesota is not going to win the American League Central but I also said the Twins would make a good spoiler. They played that role perfectly by knocking off Cleveland on Monday for win number eight in eleven contests. The offense wasn’t explosive but really didn’t need to do much thanks to a sterling performance from Andrew Albers. Albers tossed a two hit, complete game shut out which made four hits and six walks produced by the offense work. The Minnesota attack was all about the long ball with Brian Dozier going solo, while Trevor Plouffe cracked a two run jack. Samuel Deduno looks to get back on the winning track against the division rival Indians on Tuesday. Deduno suffered through a 5-2 loss to Kansas City with four runs plated on 12 hits in 5.2 innings.
I like Deduno and probably like him too much because he has cost me a few times. I like him once again and hopefully he doesn’t disappoint…
