The Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees take the field in game two of their series.
I keep on holding out hope that the Angels will some how get hot and go on the tear that will get them back in the American League West race. I keep waiting and waiting and it has yet to happen and perhaps it's about time to realize the run is just not going to happen. The Angels fell to the Yankees 2-1 Monday for loss number six in eight contests with Garrett Richards giving up both runs in an eight inning complete game. Los Angeles mustered five hits and walked three times but received an RBI hit from Josh Hamilton and left the tying run on base in the 9th. The Angels hand the ball to Tommy Hanson in game two of their series with the Yankees. Hanson has struggled in three straight where he has allowed 14 runs on 15 hits and eleven walks in 14.2 innings.

I have said that it's now or never for the Yankees and the door might still be open after the Bronx Bombers downed the struggling Angels 2-1 Monday for their third win in four games. Having said that, the Yanks could certainly use some more scoring punch or this will be a losing battle because consistent scoring isn't their forte'. Starter Hiroki Kuroda came through when the Yankees needed him most with a three hit shut out over eight frames, while whiffing seven. The bats totaled seven hits and walked once with Curtis Granderson going deep and Brett Gardner rapping an RBI single. Veteran left hander CC Sabathia looks to right the ship versus the visiting Angels on Tuesday. Sabathia did not get a decision in a 6-5 loss to the White Sox with three runs given up on five hits over 7.1 frames.
I see in some spots that Jason Vargas is going to start for the Angels but I'm not sure right now. For now I'll back CC and keep my fingers crossed...
