The Line: Tampa Bay Rays -220 / Seattle Mariners +205 --- Over/Under: 8 See the Latest Odds

The Seattle Mariners travel to Tropicana Field to open a series with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Since winning the American League West is out of reach, the Mariners attention is likely on reaching .500 which would still be quite an accomplishment for a team that has not enjoyed a great deal of success the past several years. Hitting and scoring always seem to be an issue although Felix Hernandez came up with a gem in a 2-0 victory over Milwaukee on Sunday. Hernandez had his best stuff with a four hit shut out over eight frames to pick up win number 12. The Mariners managed only four hits with Justin Smoak going solo, with another run plated on a wild pitch. The Mariners hand the ball to Erasmo Ramirez who shoots for his third win in a row as a starter when he faces Tampa Bay. Ramirez didn't throw the ball well in the wins with eight runs plated on eleven hits and including three bombs in 12 frames.

Chris Archer is scheduled to be on the mound Tuesday to square off with the visiting Mariners. Archer gave up a run on two hits in 1.2 innings of work against Arizona before his forearm tightened.
