The San Diego Padres can catch the Colorado Rockies in the National League West on Wednesday. All SD has to do to reel in Colorado is repeat Tuesday's 7-5 performance.
The Padres overcame a four-run first inning by the Rockies with a four-run second frame. San Diego led 6-4 after three innings thanks to Yonder Alonso's RBI-single, Nick Hundley's home run, Will Venable's RBI-triple, Alexi Amarista's RBI-single and Jed Gyorko's HR.

Colorado recorded their first four runs off of Wilin Rosario's Todd Helton's and Charlie Culberson's single. The Rockies scored another run later via Culberson's sacrifice fly. Venable's RBI-single however gave the Padres their-two run cushion back during the top of the sixth.
Jorge De La Rosa (11-6, 3.26 ERA) plans to shutdown SD like Colorado's pitching staff was able to do Monday. De La Rosa's last four Coors Field appearances have been treats conceding three runs during 23 innings. Unfortunately the Rockies dropped one of those 3-1 to the Chicago Cubs.
