The Texas Rangers and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Wednesday in Texas as they continue their interleague series.
The Texas Rangers never got it going on Tuesday as they fell at home to the Brewers. Mitch Moreland had two hits including a home run, Leonys martin had two hits, and Ian Kinsler had a hit as the Rangers scored just once on nine hits. Starting pitcher Alexei Ogando allowed six hits and four runs while striking out three over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-4 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Matt Garza who is coming off of a win in his last start. For the season Garza has allowed 25 hits and 11 earned runs while striking out 24 over 29.1 innings for a 2-1 record and a 3.38 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t had a great season but they had more than enough on Tuesday as they knocked off the Rangers. Scooter Gennett had two hits including a home run, Jean Segura had two hits, and Khristopher Davis had a home run as the Brewers scored five runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Marco Estrada allowed four hits and a run while striking out two over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 5-4 on the season and Jim Henderson earned his 17th save. For Wednesday’s game the Brewers start Tyler Thornburg who has worked both out of the bullpen and as a starter. For the season Thornburg has allowed 28 hits and six earned runs while striking out 22 over 31.1 innings for a 1-0 record and a 1.72 ERA.
Texas is 4-1 in their last five home games, 13-4 in their last 17 games overall, and they are 20-9 in their last 29 interleague games. Milwaukee is 5-10 in their last 15 interleague games, 2-4 in their last six games against a team with a winning record, and 10-23 in their last 33 road games against a team with a winning record.
While this game should be a lot closer than the odds suggest I see the Rangers bouncing back riding another strong performance by Garza.
