The Cincinnati Reds try to improve their playoff hopes by beating the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday. Right now Cincinnati sits comfortably ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final wild-card slot.
The Reds rolled for the fourth time in a row Wednesday 5-0 at the Chicago Cubs. Cincinnati struck via Todd Frazier's home run, Ryan Hanigan's double, Zack Cozart's double, Frazier's double and Joey Votto's double. The Reds also got seven two-hit frames from Bronson Arroyo (11-9, 3.35 ERA).

Milwaukee meanwhile dropped the second game at the Texas Rangers 5-4 for a split. The Brewers tied the game during the top of the second via Juan Francisco's HR. Francisco's three-run HR during the fourth put Milwaukee ahead 4-2. However the Brewers couldn't deliver any other damade despite the 5-6-and-7 hitters getting aboard twice each with hits.
Kyle Lohse (8-7, 3.26 ERA) tosses next for Milwaukee. Despite as bad as the Brewers are Milwaukee has won 10 of Lohse's last 13 starts. The Brewers began the year 2-8 with Lohse on the hill. At Miller Park Lohse is 5-2 just losing in May to the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers giving up eight runs during 11.1 innings.
In Lohse's victories at Miller he yielded eight runs during 34.2 frames. Cincinnati July 8 was defeated 4-3 scoring thrice during 6.2 innings versus Lohse. Also in Ohio the Reds roped in three runs, one earned, during six frames of a 4-3 Cincinnati win. The Reds are 41-of-169 with 15 RBIs, six Jay Bruce's, against Lohse.
Cincinnati comes back with Tony Cingrani (5-2, 2.87 ERA). The Reds are 5-5 on the road when Cingrani pitches. Four of the 10 times Cingrani has made an appearance Cincinnati has been shutout. Cingrani didn't give up a run during seven innings July 28 at the Los Angeles Dodgers yet the Reds fell 1-0. Cingrani won at the San Francisco Giants five days earlier 9-3. At Milwaukee July 9 the Brewers bet Cingrani 2-0 driving in two runs during seven frames.
Cingrani did however win at the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals conceding two runs during 13 innings. Milwaukee also rolled in two runs during four frames May 10 off of Cingrani in a 4-3 Cincinnati victory. The Brewers are 8-of-36 with four RBIs, half of them from Logan Schafer, versus Cingrani. Try the Reds on a medium to low wager.
