The New York Mets and San Diego Padres prepare for Game Two of their series Friday in SD after NY prevailed 4-1 in game one on Thursday night.
The Mets and Padres each finished with seven hits on Thursday, but San Diego couldn't register a run off of New York's bullpen. The Padres struck out 12 times during six innings against Zack Wheeler (5-2, 3.43 ERA) who gave up all of SD's hits.

The Mets meanwhile scored once off of Tyson Ross (3-5, 2.62 ERA). Driving in NY's runs were Josh Satin, Marlon Byrd and John Buck. The Padres struck only on Jaff Decker's sacrifice fly during the bottom of the fourth.
Ian Kennedy (4-8, 5.14 ERA) makes just his third start for San Diego on Friday. Kennedy won his first game a a Padre 6-3 at Petco Park against the New York Yankees yielding two runs during 5.2 frames. A week later on Aug. 11 Kennedy took an eight-inning two-run no-decision at the Cincinnati Reds a game the Padres lost 3-2.
At Citi Field July 4 the Mets lost 5-4 to the Arizona Diamondbacks as Kennedy got another no-decision going seven frames of two-run baseball. New York is 21-of-91 with 10 RBIs, half David Wright's, versus Kennedy who duels with Jonathon Niese (4-6, 4.45 ERA).
Niese is 3-2 on the road toppling the Arizona Diamondbacks, Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals by surrendering 11 runs during 18.1 innings. Niese's two away defeats came at the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies conceding 10 runs during 10 frames. The Mets are 4-2 in Niese's road tilts. Niese owned SD 11-2 in NY by giving up two runs during 6.2 innings. Against Kennedy the Padres are 20-of-75 with six RBIs, three from Cameron Maybin.
