The fading Seattle Mariners try finding a victory Friday at the Texas Rangers.
Texas has risen to the top of the American League West by winning nine of their last 10 games. The Rangers got payback for having their eight-game win streak snapped by beating the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 on Wednesday.

Texas shook a Matt Garza (8-2, 3.86 ERA) shaky performance by going 4-of-12 with Runners In Scoring Position. Milwaukee was 1-of-3. The Rangers scored via Adrian Beltre's, Elvis Andrus' and Ian Kinsler's singles.
Seattle dropped the final two of three games at the Tampa Bay Rays. The M's were embarrassed 7-1 Thursday. Seattle was outhit 11-5 and left six runners on base. Raul Ibanez went deep to put the Mariners on the scoreboard first during the top of the second.
Hisashi Iwakuma (10-6, 3.02 ERA) walks out next for Seattle, already 0-2 in August, giving up eight runs during 14 innings. Iwakuma's last away performance was adequate, allowing two runs, one earned, during 5.2 frames at the Boston Red Sox. Iwakuma also went down at the Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics and Texas, surrendering 11 runs, 10 earned, during 16 innings.
The Rangers were defeated 3-1 by Iwakuma April 12 knocking in only a run during 6.2 frames. Texas also was toppled 4-3 by the M's May 26 with Iwakuma leaving with an eight-inning two-run no-decision. The Rangers just beat Seattle 5-4 on July 4 and are 34-of-142 with 13 RBIs, four of them Beltre's versus Iwakuma.
Texas responds with Derek Holland (9-6, 3.07 ERA). At Rangers Ballpark, Holland is 2-5, losing his last four Arlington decisions by surrendering 13 runs during 25.2 frames. In Holland's home victories the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals were stymied for two runs, one earned, during 15 innings.
The Mariners beat Texas 4-2 July 3, despite Holland giving up two runs during six frames. At Seattle, Holland let in two runs, none earned, during 6.2 innings to win 5-2. Against Holland Texas is 32-of-146 with a dozen RBIs, a quarter from Dustin Ackley. The M's should be a threat to prevailing Friday.
