Miami Marlins vs. San Francisco Giants Free Pick - 8/18/13

The San Francisco Giants shoot for another victory in South Florida against the Miami Marlins.
San Francisco won’t be having that big run to take over the National League West, because their work on the mound and at the plate has not been strong or on the same page very often. That has made hot streaks far and few between although the Giants might have something going after a 6-4 win at Miami was victory number three in a item. Matt Cain came up big with just two runs given up on four hits and a pair of walks in seven innings. The bats posted just five hits but walked eight times with Pablo Sandoval and Gregor Blanco each driving in a pair of runs. Bumgarner looks to get back in the win column when he takes the bump versus the Marlins. Bumgarner has easily been the ace of the Giants rotation with a 5-3 mark over his lat ten starts with nine quality outings.
If I was asked to describe Miami, I would say the Fish have gotten generally competitive pitching but they do need more scoring punch. Following Saturday’s defeat, the Marlins have dropped eight of eleven with neither unit standing out. Starter Henderson Alverez was charged with four runs on four hits and four free passes over seven innings of work before AJ Ramos gave up two more to put this one out of reach. The bats simply didn’t create enough offense with five hits and a trio of free passes not getting the job done. Giancarlo Stanton cracked a two run bomb and Logan Morrison smacked a two run double in the 8th. The Marlins send Tom Koehler To the mound to pitch his team past San Francisco on Sunday. Koehler has struggled in back to back defeats in which he has given up eight runs on 13 hits and three waslks in 10.1 frames.
The way San Francisco has played through the majority of the season, winning four in a item seems like a lot to ask. I will back them with Bumgarner but the juice is too much for my liking…
