The Cleveland Indians look for a winning streak Sunday at the Oakland Athletics after demolishing Oakland 7-1 Saturday evening.
Cleveland drilled in two runs right away off of Dan Straily (6-7, 4.22 ERA) via Nick Swisher’s home run and Asdrubal Cabrera’s RBI-single. Cabrera increased the Indians’ lead to three runs during the top of the sixth with a double.
The A’s managed their only run of the game during the home-half thanks to Josh Donaldson’s RBI-single. Michael Bourn got that run back for Cleveland the next frame with a HR. The Indians added two more runs off of Swisher’s and Jason Kipnis’ RBI-singles late.
Tommy Milone (9-9, 4.39 ERA) tosses next for Oakland. Milone is 5-4 at O.co Coliseum falling to the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers yielding 13 runs, 12 earned, during 24 innings.
In Milone’s five home victories the opposition has knocked in 11 runs, 10 earned, during 32.2 frames. At Cleveland May 7 Milone lost 1-0 due to allowing a run during seven innings. The Indians are 15-of-65 with a Mike Aviles and Yan Gomes RBI against Milone.
Scott Kazmir (7-5, 4.18 ERA) is Cleveland’s next ace. Kazmir has won his last two road decisions dealing 14 innings one unearned-run baseball at the Miami Malrins and Seattle Mariners. Kazmir however dropped his first four away decisions of the year conceding 14 runs during 22 frames.
The Athletics were stifled 9-2 by Kazmir May 9 driving in just a run during six innings. Oakland is 17-of-70 with six RBIs, four Coco Crisp’s, versus Kazmir. The A’s maintain their healthy margin over the Indians in the standings with a win.
