The baseball season is winding down so it's series like this one the Cleveland Indians at the Oakland Athletics that will be crucial to whether a postseason berth is in either's future. Oakland beat Cleveland 3-2 on Friday. The Indians look for redemption on Saturday.
The A's marked in three runs off of Justin Masterson (13-9, 3.59 ERA) during 7.2 innings. Oakland's A.J. Griffin (10-8, 3.76 ERA) was pulled after five frames of one-unearned run baseball. The Athletics laced in two runs right away via Yoenis Cespedes' home run.

Cleveland knocked in runs off Carlos Santana and Nick Swisher RBI-singles. However the Indians, who threw out Eric Sogard at third base, couldn't get Sogard out before the game-winning run came home during the seventh.
Ubaldo Jimenez (8-7, 4.11 ERA) hurls next for Cleveland. Jimenez will try halting a two-game slide by winning at Oakland, something he was able to do April 20, 2012 with six two-run innings. The Indians triumphed 4-3 so another gem will likely be needed if Cleveland is to defeat the A's again.
On May 6 of this year Oakland went down 7-3 at Progressive Field to Jimenez driving in two runs during 5.2 frames. Jimenez surrendered eight runs, four earned, during 10.1 innings in two August defeats. On the road Jimenez is 4-3. The Athletics are 21-of-92 as a whole with eight RBIs, three Cespedes', against Jimenez.
Oakland's Dan Straily (6-6, 4.19 ERA) gets the start for the home side. The A's are 5-3 at O.co with Straily tossing. Straily's lost his last two trips to O.co Coliseum to the Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays yielding 10 runs, seven earned, during nine frames.
In Straily's victories in Oakland the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants combined for three runs during 19.2 innings. The Indians haven't seen Straily in his 26 showings to the rubber. With Straily riding a four-game slide Cleveland should be competitive at the very least. I'll take a chance on the Indians.
