The Seattle Mariners try to copy Friday night's script on Saturday at the Texas Rangers. Seattle took down Texas 3-1.
The Rangers led 1-0 during the bottom of the fourth off of A.J. Pierzynski's RBI-single. The M's however took the lead during the top of the eighth and then added another run on Jeff Smoak's home run an inning later. Seattle jumped ahead on Kyle Seager's blast. The Mariners only had two hits and three walks against Derek Holland (9-6, 2.95 ERA) who was pulled after seven shutout innings.

Seattle's best Felix Hernandez (12-5, 2.28 ERA) goes to the hill next. Hernandez has dominated pretty much every team he's faced; however, Texas has given him the most headaches. The Rangers the first two times versus Hernandez shot in nine runs, eight earned, during 12.1 innings to beat him 4-3 and 5-2 at Safeco Field. In Texas though on July 3 Hernandez was the one laughing yielding two runs during seven frames of a 4-2 victory.
The Rangers are 113-of-418 with 48 RBIS, 10 of them Ian Kinsler's, against Hernandez. Hernandez's last away appearance was a trippy one seeing in a run during seven innings yet the M's fell 8-7 at the Boston Red Sox. Seattle overall is 8-5 on the road when Hernandez throws.
Texas comes back with unibrowed ace Martin Perez (5-3, 3.44 ERA) who won his last starts. Unfortunately Perez hasn't won at Rangers Ballpark since June 28 beating the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 with 6.2 breathtaking frames. Texas is 2-1 since at home with Perez pitching prevailing twice by a run.
The Mariners drove in an unearned run July 4 at Rangers Park off of Perez who got a no-decision. Seattle fell 5-4 and are 11-of-45 with a Carlos Triunfel RBI all-time versus Perez. The M's definitely have a chance with Hernandez hurling; however, Texas' bats and more importantly pitching may be up to the challenge of competing on Saturday.
