Chicago Cubs vs. Washington Nationals Free Pick - 8/20/13
2013-08-20 07:05:00 EDT
The Washington Nationals try to get even Tuesday with the Chicago Cubs after being walloped 11-1 on Monday.
Chicago’s Jeff Samardzija (7-11, 4.12 ERA) went a complete game only giving up a run via Wilson Ramos’ seventh-inning blast. Nate Schierholtz meanwhile for the Cubs had two home runs along with an RBI-double to pick up six RBIs.
Donnie Murphy also homered as well as Dioner Navarro. Bryce Harper was the only Washington batter to get more than a hit, two. However Harper was 0-of-1 with Runners In Scoring Position. The Nats only had one chance to score with RISP.
Dan Haren (7-11, 4.79 ERA) will thitem next for Washington who has won four of his last five appearances. Prior to July 27 the Nationals had dropped 11 Haren starts in a item. Haren took eight defeats, five on the road yielding 18 runs during 29.1 frames. Chicago is 13-of-82 with eight RBIs, five David DeJesus’, versus Haren.
The Cubs call out Chris Rusin (2-2, 3.06 ERA) to the mound for Game Two. Rusin is 0-2 at Wrigley Field losing to the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers conceding six runs during 11 innings. Chicago is 3-1 in Rusin’s four away appearances. Rusin went down however 11-5 at Washington last year surrendering five runs during one frame.
The Nats are 5-of-7 with four RBIs all from Ian Desmond against Rusin. The odds are either close because of the opener being a blowout or because the game’s at Wrigly. Possibly both. Either way I’ll cash in on Washington winning.
