The Arizona Diamondbacks visit Great American Ball Park to take on the Cincinnati Reds.
We can talk about hot teams and teams that have a possible shot at the postseason and Arizona fits both descriptions. The Diamondbacks have won eight of eleven after out lasting Pittsburgh 4-2 in a 16 inning marathon. That kept the Snakes in the National League West conversation but until the Dodgers show some chinks in the armor, the Wild Card is what's at stake. Wade Miley gave up both Pirates runs on seven hits and and two BB while whiffing eight in eight innings, before six relievers put up zeros. Adam Eaton was the offensive star with his two run double in the 16th plating two runs for the win. The Diamondbacks are scheduled to send Randall Delgado to the mound to face Cincinnati. Delgado didn't receive a decision in a 4-3 win over Baltimore with all three runs given up on five hits and two walks in seven frames.

Cincinnati sits third in the National League Central but they are right in the middle of the division race with nether St Louis and Pittsburgh looking like world beaters right now. The Reds are at their best when scoring runs and are a tough team when the work on the mound also comes through. Both were outstanding Sunday in a 9-1 rout of Milwaukee with Homer Bailey allowing just the single run on three hits and a walk while whiffing eight over eight innings. The offense exploded on ten hits and nine walks with Ryan Hannigan and Brandon Phillips combining for five RBI's. Cincinnati shoots for his 3rd straight win against visiting Arizona. Arroyo has given up just a single run in the wins on six hits and zero base on balls through a combined 14 innings pitched.
I think Arroyo is the better hurler and the Reds have more potential to score. Throw in the fact that the Diamondbacks just played 16 innings and I prefer the home team...
