The Cleveland Indians visit the Los Angeles Angels looking to chase down the Tigers in the Central.
Cleveland appeared to be on their way to righting the ship with wins in three of four as they try to resume the chase for the American League Central crown. That chase took step back in a 7-3 defeat at Oakland on Sunday which cost them a game in the standings with the Tigers win over Kansas City. The Indians need to score to win and that didn't happen with the arms struggling as well. Scott Kazmir was charged with five runs on ten hits and two free passes over five frames to absorb the loss. The offense simply didn't keep up on their nine hit, one walk attack that produced a solo shot off the bat of Ryan Rayburn. Rookie right hander Danny Salazar gets his 4th start of 2013, hoping to rebound from his first career defeat. Salazar dropped a 3-0 decision at Minnesota in which he gave up all three runs on three hits and three walks in four innings.

Although stranger things have happened, the Angels winning the American League West is not something we'll be seeing in 2013. Following a 7-3 loss to Houston on Sunday, Los Angeles has dropped seven of eleven as their big offense has not been as big of a factor on a consistent basis the past few weeks and the entire year as well. Jason Vargas didn't have his best stuff with three runs given up on seven hits and three walks through five innings, with the pen unable to stop the bleeding. The Angels bats totaled nine hits and walked four times with Josh Hamilton going deep, while Mark Trumbo homered and drove in three. Jered Weaver toes the rubber Monday versus Cleveland looking to rebound from one of the poorest starts of his career. Weaver dropped an 11-3 decision to the Yankees in which he was charged for nine runs on nine hits in five innings.
Let me start off by saying that I don't have any confidence in the Angels and why should I? I will take them because of Weaver who doesn't usually look bad twice in a row but I need convincing to put money on them...
