The Colorado Rockies head to Citizen's Bank Park to tangle with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Colorado entered the final game of their series with the Orioles as winners in six of eight before getting saddled with a 7-2 defeat. If the Rockies are going to make any noise in the National League West they had better get going from here on out. The visitors appeared to have a decent enough chance Sunday with Jhoulys Chacin on the mound but he was charged with three runs over five innings before the bull pen imploded. The bats totaled eight hits and walked three times with Charlie Blackmon and Yorvit Torrealba driving in runs. Jeff Manship faces Philadelphia on Monday in only his third start of 2013. Manship has dropped his first two outings with eight runs plated on 12 hits and five BB in ten innings pitched.

It should be obvious to Philadelphia fans that the team is a long way from competing for the National League East title with too many injuries to key players combined with poor play. That cost Charlie Manuel his job and left new skipper Ryne Sandberg with roughly 40 games to figure things out. Sandberg picked up his first win in a 3-2 victory over the white hot Dodgers on Sunday behind terrific pitching and a few clutch hits. Cole Hamels held the the LAD to seven hits and two runs while striking out eight over seven frames. The offense consisted of seven hits and a pair of free passes with Darin Ruf going deep with the game winner plated in the 9th on an error. Rookie right hander Ethan Martin faces Colorado for his his fourth career start. Martin is coming in off of a 3-1 defeat at Atlanta where he gave up all three runs on six hits and two walks in five frames.
The Phillies have a chance at the win here if Martin can get past five innings and the bats get him a few runs. I'm still not real high on these guys so this is a risky pick...
