This year's possible Word Series Champion Boston Red Sox visit last season's champs the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
SF's chances of repeating are extremely bleak especially if the Giants can't sweep the Miami Marlins. On Sunday the Giants came close taking the first two games and leading 5-4 heading to the seventh-inning stretch.

San Francisco however didn't strike again after Hector Sanchez's RBI-double. Hunter Pence and Brandon Crawford homered in Giants as well as Pence picking up a top-of-the-fifth single to score Gregor Blanco.
Boston meanwhile in a rubber match with the New York Yankees. The Sox led 6-3 after five, but fell behind during the sixth inning due to a four-run NY frame.
Boston got on the scoreboard initally with Jonny Gomes' sacrifice fly and Jarrod Saltalamacchia's RBI-single. The Red Sox then scored four straight runs to reclaim the lead 6-3. Boston however surrendered the next six runs to fall.
The Sox send out Jon Lester (10-7, 4.31 ERA) hoping to get their first victory with him on the hill since July. Lester's last road win was a seven-inning shutout at the Baltimore Orioles. The Kansas City Royals got Lester 5-1 at Kauffman Stadium Aug. 8. Lester also fell at Baltimore, the Chicago White Sox, NY, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays allowing 30 runs, 29 earned, during 33.1 frames.
Lester prevailed at the Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, TB, Toronto Blue Jays and the Yanks the first three months of the season conceding 11 runs during 31.2 innings. SF is 9-of-55 with two Marco Scutaro RBIs against Lester.
The Giants go back to Tim Lincecum (6-12, 4.38 ERA). San Francisco is 3-13 in Lincecum's last 16 starts, five of which he has bled for less than three runs. At AT&T Park Lincecum is 4-5 dumping the Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays conceding one run during 28.2 frames.
Fortunately for Boston Lincecum has also bled for 25 runs, 24 earned, during 29 innings in AT&T losses. The Giants are 5-7 altogether when Lincecum throws in SF. The Red Sox are 19-of-90 with eight RBIs, three apiece from Stephen Drew and Shane Victorino, versus Lincecum.
