The Tampa Bay Rays battle the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards on Tuesday.
After a slow period, Tampa Bay seems to have rediscovered the winning touch after Monday's 4-3 victory at Camden Yards was their fifth in six games. The Rays are a team that needs good efforts on the mound and at the plate to be at their best and received just enough of both with starter David Price allowing two runs over five frames despite giving up ten hits and issuing a pair of walks. The bats totaled nine hits and walked twice with Matt Joyce slamming a two run bomb, while Evan Longoria connected on a solo shot. Tampa Bay sends Alex Cobb to the bump to face Baltimore for game number two. Cobb defeated Seattle 7-1 last time out with the lone run plated on three hits and two BB in five innings.

Baltimore has been a .500 team over the last few weeks and they will have to step it up if they expect to catch the Red Sox in the American League East. The Orioles have been winning when both the work on the mound and plate have gotten on the same page as neither have been winning on their own accord. The Birds have got to begin stringing the wins together or the Wild Card will be their only hope of reaching the postseason. Chris Tillman gave up all four runs on five hits and a walk through six frames which has generally been enough to win with the O's providing plenty of scoring. Not this time with the offense totaling 15 hits and walking four times but squandering several chances. Matt Wieters paced the attack with a solo blast and RBI double but the clutch hit wasn't on the menu. The Orioles turn to Miguel Gonzalez to control the Tampa Bay attack on Tuesday. Gonzalez has looked sharp the last two times out with a combined five runs given up in 13 innings but did not get a decision.
I don't have the greatest feel for this one and believe the hotter team is the way to go. As a Baltimore fan I'm hoping the Birds find a way to win...
