The Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins face off on Saturday in Cleveland for game two of their series.
The Cleveland Indians have been struggling of late and we saw those struggles once again on Friday as they fell to the Twins. Carlos Santana had two hits and Michael Bourn and Asdrubal Cabrera had hits as the Indians scored one run on six hits. Starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez allowed five hits and two runs while striking out 10 over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 9-8 on the season. For the season McAllister has allowed 97 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 74 over 97.2 innings for a 6-7 record and a 3.59 ERA.
The Minnesota Twins have shown flashes of getting it together this season and they showed another flash beating the Indians on Friday. Chris Hermann, Clete Thomas, and Pedro Florimon each had two hits as the Twins scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Samuel Deduna allowed three hits and a run while striking out six over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 9-7 on the season. . For Saturday’s game the Twins start Liam Hendriks who makes his fourth appearance in the Majors this season. For the year Hendriks allowed 19 hits and seven earned runs while striking out eight over 16 innings for an 0-1 record and a 3.94 ERA.
Cleveland is 9-3 in their last 12 home games against a team with a losing road record, 32-14 as a favorite, and 4-1 in McAllister’s last five starts. Minnesota is 6-2 in their last eight road games, 20-41 against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 in Hendriks’ last five starts. Minnesota is 3-5 in their last eight games in Cleveland.
This is a pretty big number on the Indians but up against Hendriks the Tribe are still the better option, even at this price.
