The Pittsburgh Pirates hope to keep adding to the San Francisco Giants' forgettable year Saturday. Pittsburgh is halfway to sweeping SF thanks to 10-5 and 3-1 wins.
Friday's victory was tougher, but easier on the arm of the Pirates' ace. Charlie Morton (5-3, 3.42 ERA) threw an efficient 83 pitches during 7.2 innings yielding one run. The Giants only got on base eight times against Morton and ended up leaving six runners on base.

Roger Kieschnick drove in Buster Posey for San Franciso's lone run during the bottom of the fourth. Pittsburgh took the lead during the top of the seventh off of Clint Barmes' three-run rocket. The Giants outhit the Pirates 8-7.
Francisco Liriano (14-5, 2.53 ERA) chucks next for Pittsburgh. Liriano's last three trips have come on the road with the last two ending in wins allowing one run during 16 innings at the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals. Liriano was floored 10-1 at the Colorado Rockies Aug. 9 for 10 runs during 2.1 frames a week after stifling Colorado for seven scoreless innings.
Liriano is 7-4 in away games and has taken a decision each and every time he has gone to the hill. Liriano's other road losses came at the Cincinnati Reds twice and Detroit Tigers bleeding for 11 runs during 15.1 frames. In Liriano's away victories the Chicago Cubs twice, Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets and Washington Nationals between May and July managed four runs during 35.2 innings. SF struck for four runs during six frames versus Liriano, but still lost 12-8 at PNC Park. The Giants are 9-of-35 with four RBIs, half Joaquin Arias', against Liriano.
San Francisco combats with Tim Lincecum (6-13, 4.53 ERA). With the Giants out of the playoff hunt you have to think Lincecum could see little to no action in September. Lincecum may be limited here especially after a shaking five-inning display against the Boston Red Sox. Lincecum fell 7-0 and has gone down five other times at AT&T Park yielding 25 runs, 24 earned, during 29 frames.
Lincecum's wins at AT&T have come versus the Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays giving up a run during 28.2 innings. The Pirates beat Lincecum 8-2 at PNC June 11 due to four runs, two earned, during 4.2 frames. Against Lincecum Pittsburgh is 17-of-96 with 14 RBIs, four each from Barmes and Garrett Jones.
