The Tampa Bay Rays host the New York Yankees with the postseason up for grabs for both teams.
After racking up the wins over the past few weeks to pump new life in to their postseason hopes, the Yankees have hit a few bumps in the road with back to back defeats following a 4-2 loss at Tampa Bay. A familiar foe reared it's head and that was a lack of offensive punch which spoiled a winnable performance from CC Sabathia who gave up three runs on six hits and two free passes in six innings pitched. The Bronx Bombers mustered just six hits and walked once with a bases loaded walk and ground out plating their two runs. The Yankees look to keep their playoff hopes alive when Ivan Nova squares off with Tampa Bay. Nova comes in off an 8-4 victory over Toronto in which he allowed four runs on nine hits and two free pass in 6.1 innings.

Tampa Bay has fought their way back to the top of the American League East but with plenty of season left to be played the question is whether they can remain there. The way the Rays have been playing lately I would say the division is their's to lose but in reality this division is loaded with Boston and Baltimore having something to say before all is said and done. Saturday's win was number eight in ten with David Price picking up the win with a pair of runs plated on five hits and a walk over six innings of work. The offense managed seven hits and coaxed a pair of free passes with Evan Longoria going deep and driving in two while Ben Zobrist knocked in two as well. Alex Cobb shoots for his third straight win when he faces the Yankees on Sunday. Cobb has given up two earned runs in the victories on a combined six hits and six base on balls over eleven innings of work.
The Yankees need this and Nova has been a tough customer so this won't be a cake walk for the Rays. If Cobb is on top of his game it should be less of a cake walk for New York...
