The San Francisco Giants look for payback Tuesday after being demolished 6-1 at the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.
SF was outhit 13-7 by Colorado, who scored five runs during the second, third and fourth inning for a 5-0 lead. Todd Helton's home run, Charlie Blackmon's HR, Juan Nicasio's (8-6, 4.57 ERA) RBI-single and Blackmon's fielder's choice all came off of Barry Zito (4-10, 5.81 ERA) in his brief four frames of work.

The Giants yielded another run during the bottom of the seventh when D.J. LeMahieu drove in Corey Dickerson. Joaquin Arias, though, knocked in a run for San Francisco during the top of the ninth.. The Giants, who had the lone error, left nine runners on base while the Rockies stranded four and had one more hit, 3-2, with Runners In Scoring Position.
Chad Bettis (0-2, 4.50 ERA) throws next for Colorado, having only tossed once at Coors Field already this year. That one offering came Aug. 11 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, with Bettis leaving after six innings of two-run baseball. Bettis took a no-decision,, but the Rockies triumphed 3-2.
Colorado is 0-4 in Bettis' four road affairs, with him taking the losses in his worst two outigs, at the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Oroles, conceding 13 runs, seven earned, during 7.2 frames. At the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, the Rockies went down by a run both times, although Bettis did his part seeing in three runs during 10.1 innings.
Not to be outdone by Colorado, SF sends out their own young ace Yusmiero Petit (0-0, 3.38 ERA). Petit has been in the Major Leagusr a number of years, but has limited wear and tear due to short stints in MLB, as well as often being utilized as a reliever. On July 23 versus the Cincinnati Reds, Petit didn't have the luxury of coming out of the bullpen.
Petit let in two runs during 5.1 frames as a starter in a 9-3 loss to Cincinnati at AT&T Park. The Rockies are 5-of-20 without an RBI and four walks against Petit. Carlos Gonzalez has two free passes and a hit in one at-bat versus Petit, while Todd Helton is 4-of-7 with a double. I like Colorado to clobber Petit and the Giants during Game Two.
