The Kansas City Royals are not out of the American League Central race and proved it Tuesday at the Minnesota Twins. KC tries to reel in another win at Minnesota on Wednesday, after fighting past the Twins 6-1 due to a five-run eighth inning.
The Royals struck first during the eighth on Chris Getz's RBI-single, scoring Salvador Perez. Jerome Dyson and Alex Gordonn drove in more Kansas City runs. Brian Dozier got the Twins on the scoreboard during the home-half.

Billy Butler, though, negated that run by going deep for the Royals during the ninth. Kevin Correia (8-10, 4.32 ERA) actually outpitched James Shields (9-8, 3.14), going seven empty frames, but walked away with a no-decision.
Bruce Chen (5-2, 2.88 ERA) gets the start next for KC, who has lost the last three times he's gone to the hill. Chen began the year 5-0, yielding a run during 17.2 innings. In Chen's last two starts at the Detroit Tigers and against the Washington Nationals, he surrendered 13 runs during nine frames.
Chen is 2-1 on the road, blanking the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies for three innings. Minnesota was also blanked in three appearances versus Chen during seven frames. The Twins and Royals split 3-0 affairs in Kansas City, while at Target Field the Royals rolled 9-3 when Chen started. Against Chen, Minnesota is 24-of-89 with 13 RBIs, six Josh Willingham's and four Trevor Plouffe's.
The Twins retaliate with Andrew Albers (2-1, 3.00 ERA), who will be making just his fifth start ever. Albers at Target has been pretty good, giving up zero and five runs during nine and seven innings this season to the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox in a 3-0 win and 8-5 loss.
At KC Aug. 6, Albers threw 8.1 blank frames to prevail 7-0. Minnesota also picked up a 7-6 victory at Detroit Aug. 22 when Albers got the start. The Royals are 4-of-28 with an Eric Hosmer walk and no RBIs all-time versus Albers. Take the Twins.
