The Miami Marlins just never got the bats going on Tuesday as they fell to the Nationals at home. Christian Yellich had two hits including a home run and Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Ruggiano each had hits as the Marlins scored a run on four hits. Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-5 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the Marlins start Henderson Alvarez who has lost his last two starts. For the season Alvarez has allowed 59 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 34 over 63 innings for a 2-3 record and a 3.86 ERA.
Washington is 6-1 in their last seven games, 6-0 as a favorite, and 2-5 in Strasburg’s last seven home starts. Miami is 20-51 in their last 71 road games, 2-10 against a right-handed starter, and 0-4 in Alvarez’s last four starts. Miami is 1-5 in their last six games in Washington.
Washington is a big favorite here and they should be. I rarely recommend laying big numbers but I am tempted to do so here and I would say throw the Nats in some parlays as well.
