The New York Mets look to cool off the suddenly hot Washington Nationals on Saturday.
The Mets are battling the Phillies for third in the National League East and have an outside shot at second with a season ending hot streak and some help. You never know what this team will do sometimes, so it's not surprising they knocked off Washington 3-2 on the road for their third win in four contests. Starter Dillon Gee carried the team, with both runs plated on six hits and a free pass over 7.2 innings. The bats totaled seven hits and walked twice, with Ike Davis clubbing a two run bomb in the 4th. Zack Wheeler has been in a groove and looks to continue his strong work on the mound against Washington. Wheeler absorbed a 2-1 defeat to Philadelphia in which he allowed both runs over 6.2 innings.

Washington has been playing their best baseball of 2013, although all that can do is secure a winning record and second place in the National League East. Both the arms and bats had been on the same page lately, with wins in eight of ten before the bats failed to deliver in Friday's loss to New York. Jordan Zimmerman tossed a winnable game, with three runs scored on six hits and a base on balls over 7.2 innings pitched. The Nationals attack consisted of six hits and a walk with Wilson Ramos and Steve Lombardozzi slamming solo home runs, as the Nats couldn't bunch things together. Dan Haren toes the rubber versus the visiting Mets, looking to rebound from a rare 6-4 defeat to the Royals. Haren allowed all four runs on eight hits, including a pair of home runs over seven innings pitched.
My first thought was Washington with a hot Haren on the hill, but Wheeler has been good as well, so for me it's a matter of backing the plus odds or not bet at all...
